GREENWICH EVALUATION REPORT

“Welcome to Greenwich England! A World Heritage site. The place that sets Time (Greenwich Mean Time) and Place (Greenwich Meridian). It is truly unique. It is the birthplace of Henry VIII and his famous daughters Queen Mary & Queen Elizabeth I. Each Spring it sees the start of the London Marathon. Just across the River Thames is the modern Docklands development with Canary Wharf and London City Airport.” [1]

To begin with the game was divided into locations of 6 main areas, which are Gallery, Museum space, Library, Green space, Building & Architectural and Shop. Each member was given one area of Greenwich to research and the result was useful. Because we have divided the group into different areas and each of the member was taking charge of one area, therefore we end up did not share the information with the whole group and each of us work individually instead work as a group. The group used the research and discussion to help make the final decision and the main aim was to let the players to get to know Greenwich.

The task of taking charge of the shops in Greenwich was given to me. I found many interesting shops within the area, which are used in the game. The Junk Shop, Second-hand book shop, Greenwich market and sweets shop were agreed to be used in the game by the group. There are also few cafes, pubs and restaurants that have very interesting structure and interior architecture. However the group could not share this information in the game as we were told by the restaurant keepers that photos are not allowed to be taken inside due to security reasons.

The plan was made quite well by the group but when it came to setting up the game it was quite difficult for the group. One of the reasons that we did not have a library in the game is that the library got closed the day before the game was supposed to be played. We did originally set up a clue in the library but due to the closure we had to use the second hand shop instead. It would be a good idea to use the library in the game in order for the players to get to know the location of the Greenwich library and find out some useful information about it.

The strongpoints are we have managed to select the most important places to show the plays and link all the chose places together with the right order rather than sending the plays up and down on the streets during the play time. We are the only group that has been given out a present and we have tried our best to created an enjoyable fun game.

The weaknesses are we did not work as a group from the beginning and share informations together. we should finished our setting up at least two days earlier than the play date and find out the opening hours of each places that we have used in our game avoid the places that was not open on the play day.

I have found difficult in organized the meetings and work as a team, because each members has different working timetable is was hard to get everyone together at the same time. It was easy to make our decisions on the agreements, without unnecessary arguments and it was quite easy for me to research, because I was in charge of all the shops all I have to do was go to the area and look for shops and then try to find out the websites of the shops that was interested me.

If we could start it again to make the game better, I will pointing out the fact that we should all work together as a group and be more organized find out the open hours for each places that we are going to use in the game. I would spend some more time on the map as well; the one we have made was not really clearly showed. All the mistake we have made was because we was not prepare enough and we have left too much to do in the last minute.
